VISION:

A body of believers, bound together by our love for Jesus Christ and his word, reflecting God’s love, grace, and truth.

Our vision reflects a functioning church body tightly bound together above all by God, through Jesus Christ, and his Holy Spirit.

This bond of love and joy strengthens our church family through strong relationships without partiality. It speaks to a shared desire to edify one another and God’s desire for grace and truth in the church.

This is the vision we wish to show all nations and our bond of love motivates everything we do individually and together.

What are the dangers of not being connected to a church?

What are the blessings and challenges we face living in a community of believers?

Are you bent more towards reflecting God’s grace or his truth?

What should be the outcome of being shown grace?

What experiences in your life have illustrated grace at work?

Are you bent more towards reflecting God’s grace or his truth?

How did Jesus reflect God’s truth and grace together?

Tell about a time in your life where you had to stand for God’s truth even though it was difficult.

Applicable Examples

Visualization through examples, stories, metaphors
Individual vs Church Body

Historical vs Today

We have opportunity to weep with those who weep and rejoice with those who rejoice, across our lifespan.

When we support one another through joy and tragedy, and remain committed to one another through disagreement or hurt, we show the fruit of our love for Jesus and draw others to him.

Demonstrating grace to those who have sinned or are hurting can be one of the clearest testimonies of a church devoted to Jesus.

Jesus set the example of showing compassion without compromise when he interacted with sinners throughout his ministry.

As God’s truth becomes less accepted in modern culture, the church must discover new ways to communicate these timeless truths.

While we may not always convince others of the truth, we can always interact with kindness and love, thus maintaining our testimony for Jesus.

Summary/Conclusion:

Jesus serves as the perfect example for us to follow. The pattern of his life was to love the Father and to love God’s truth.

He lifted up the lowly and humbled the high-minded, all with a desire to bring others to the Father.

He did this with a blend of love, grace and truth that we can follow today as a body of believers bound together by our love for Jesus and His Word.

Biblical References:

Believers Bound by Love for Jesus, Reflecting Love
John 13:34-35 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

1 Corinthians 13:1-13 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; eareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Ephesians 4:15-16 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

Reflecting Grace

2 Corinthians 12:8-9 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Ephesians 2:8-10 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

James 2:1-9 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.

For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:

Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?

Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?

But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?

Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called? If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.

1 Peter 4:8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

Reflecting Truth

John 4:21-24 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.

Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

1 Corinthians 13:4-6 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
