PRAYER OF DELIVERANCE
3/23/25 APGCI USA Church
By Apostle Jean Baptiste Paluku Mulovery
INTRODUCTION
Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, today we gather to understand and embrace the power of deliverance prayer – a sacred tool given to us by our Lord to break the chains of bondage and set the captives free.
> “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” – John 8:36
I. UNDERSTANDING SPIRITUAL BONDAGE
A. Recognizing the Reality of Spiritual Warfare
* “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” – Ephesians 6:12
* The Bible clearly teaches that we live in a world where spiritual forces are at work
* Many struggles we face have spiritual roots that require spiritual solutions
B. Common Areas of Bondage
1. Generational patterns and curses
2. Habitual sin and addiction
3. Unforgiveness and bitterness
4. Trauma and emotional wounds
5. Demonic oppression and influence
C. Signs That Deliverance Is Needed
* Persistent, unexplainable negative patterns
* Inability to overcome certain struggles despite sincere efforts
* Unexplained fear, anxiety, or depression
* Recurring nightmares or disturbing thoughts
* Resistance to spiritual growth or reading God’s Word
II. THE BIBLICAL FOUNDATION FOR DELIVERANCE
A. Jesus’s Ministry of Deliverance
* “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free.” – Luke 4:18
* Jesus consistently cast out demons and set people free throughout His ministry
* Examples: the Gerasene demoniac (Mark 5:1-20), the daughter of the Syrophoenician woman (Mark 7:24-30)
B. Authority Given to Believers
* “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.” – Luke 10:19
* “In my name they will drive out demons.” – Mark 16:17
* We have been given Christ’s authority to continue His ministry of deliverance
C. The Power of the Name of Jesus
* “Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth.” – Philippians 2:9-10
* There is power in the name of Jesus to break every chain and set the captives free
III. PREPARING FOR DELIVERANCE PRAYER
A. Personal Preparation
1. **Examine yourself first**
* “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?” – Matthew 7:3
* We must be cleansed vessels to be used by God
2. **Put on the full armor of God** (Ephesians 6:10-18)
* Belt of truth
* Breastplate of righteousness
* Feet fitted with the gospel of peace
* Shield of faith
* Helmet of salvation
* Sword of the Spirit (Word of God)
3. **Fast and pray**
* “This kind can come out only by prayer and fasting.” – Mark 9:29 (NIV 1984)
* Fasting breaks spiritual strongholds and increases spiritual sensitivity
B. Creating the Right Environment
* Gather supportive believers to join in prayer
* Create an atmosphere of worship and God’s presence
* Minimize distractions
* Maintain confidentiality and respect
IV. THE DELIVERANCE PRAYER PROCESS
A. Begin with Praise and Worship
* Establish God’s presence through worship
* “But You are holy, enthroned in the praises of Israel.” – Psalm 22:3 (NKJV)
B. Pray for Discernment
* Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the root causes of bondage
* “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” – James 1:5
C. Lead in Repentance and Renunciation
* Guide the person to confess sin and renounce any involvement with darkness
* “Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.”
– James 5:16
* Sample prayer:
“Lord, I confess and renounce [specific sin/involvement]. I break all agreements with the enemy and turn fully to You.”
D. Break Spiritual Bonds
* Address specific areas of bondage by name
* Use the authority of Jesus’ name to command spirits to leave
* “In the name of Jesus Christ, I command every spirit of [specific issue] to leave now.”
* Break ungodly soul ties, generational curses, and unhealthy attachments
E. Pray for Healing and Filli
* After deliverance, pray for the healing of wounds that allowed bondage
* Ask the Holy Spirit to fill every area that has been cleansed
* “When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it… and the final condition of that person is worse than the first.” – Matthew 12:43-45
* The empty spaces must be filled with God’s presence
V. MAINTAINING FREEDOM AFTER DELIVERANCE
A. Daily Spiritual Disciplines
* Regular Bible study and meditation on God’s Word
* Consistent prayer and communion with God
* Active participation in the body of Christ
* “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” – James 4:7
B. Guard Your Mind and Heart
* Be vigilant about what you allow into your life
* “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” – Proverbs 4:23
* Avoid returning to old patterns and relationships that led to bondage
C. Continue to Walk in Forgiveness
* Forgiveness is not a one-time event but a lifestyle
* “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” –
Colossians 3:13
D. Testimony and Praise
* Share your testimony of deliverance to encourage others and glorify God
* “They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” – Revelation 12:11
CONCLUSION
Deliverance is not just about being set free from something negative but being set free for God’s divine purpose in your life. True freedom is found not just in the absence of bondage but in the presence of Christ ruling in every area of your life.
Let us pray together now, believing in the power of God to set captives free and restore broken lives through the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
> “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” – 2 Corinthians 3:17
CLOSING PRAYER OF DELIVERANCE
Heavenly Father,
We come before You today in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, acknowledging Your power and authority over all creation. We thank You that You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.
Lord Jesus, we apply the power of Your blood over this place and over each person here. We declare that by Your stripes we are healed, by Your sacrifice we are made righteous, and by Your victory at the cross, we are more than conquerors.
We stand in the authority You have given us and we bind every work of darkness that has operated in our lives. We renounce and break all curses, hexes, spells, and assignments of the enemy against us.
In the name of Jesus, we command every spirit that is not of God to leave now – spirits of fear, addiction, depression, infirmity, anger, bitterness, rejection, and confusion. We declare that you have no place in our lives and no authority over us.
We break generational curses and dysfunctional patterns that have been passed down through our family lines. We declare freedom from these bondages in Jesus’ name.
Holy Spirit, come and fill every place that has been cleansed. Bring Your healing to wounded hearts, Your peace to troubled minds, and Your strength to weakened bodies.
We thank You for the freedom that is ours in Christ Jesus. We commit to walking in this freedom daily, guarding our hearts and minds, and standing firm in the faith.
We praise You for the victory that is already won in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
